About Neoprene Chest Waders

Neoprene Fabric Properties

Neoprene fabric boasts exceptional properties that keep you dry and insulated when in cold water making them the perfect choice for winter fishing or industrial work. The fabric is not regarded as breathable and as such, waders made from neoprene are not generally worn in the summer months. The tough nature, and thickness of neoprene often results in a wader that can last for many seasons, with some wearers reporting a product life of over 15 years. They can also be repaired (should you be unfortunate to puncture them) using a wader repair kit or traditional impact adhesive, some replacement fabric and a bit of care.

Sizing

The design and cut of a Neoprene Chest Wader is usually a closer fit with the wader extending to under the arms and being secured with the shoulder straps. The neoprene also stretches during use resulting in a very comfortable and snug wader.  We recommend that you allow for any extra garments that you may wish to wear for the task in hand and follow the size chart information carefully.

Types of Neoprene Waders

Neoprene Chest Waders are usually found as either Stockingfoot or Bootfoot designs. Stockingfoot waders feature a neoprene sock and must be worn with a wader boot. Bootfoot waders usually feature a Wellington that is directly bonded to the wader to create a one-piece suit.

Ollyskins Neoprene Waders

The most popular Neoprene Chest Wader from Ollyskins is the 2910 AntiCut Neoprene Wader. This fabric has been developed for the professional market sector for use in areas of high activity and risk of puncture such as river work, dyke clearing, rescue operations, civils and environmental.

Safety with Waders

As with all waders, we recommend the use of a wading belt which fits around your torso and will prevent water ingress in the event of accidental immersion.

Care

We always recommend that you rinse your waders after use, especially if they have been used in dirty water or even saltwater. Once rinsed, hang them upside down to dry (you can use the Ollyskins Wader Hanger). Once dry, pack the legs of the waders out with old newspaper or a large rag – this reshapes the garment and avoids creases in the fabric which if left could cause cracking and eventually leaks. At all costs, do not leave your Ollyskins folded up in the corner or in the back of your vehicle!
